Top Secret Harley Cake

What an adventure.  I had no idea how hard it would be to keep a secret when you are baking a birthday cake with a three year old!
I had a plan. First have a fun princess movie and plenty of princess coloring books and crayons available.
Second, have a back up cake.  This is the cake you need as an alibi when Uncle Curt asks, "What did you do today Allyson?"  She then can answer "I made a cake for you Curt".

However, once should be prepared for said cake not to arrive to the Deuel home intact.  It is perfectly acceptable for one slice of said cake to be missing when baking with a princess!

When all the movie watching, coloring book exploring, cake making and cake eating are finished a princess must be included in the creation of the main event!  The Harley Cake!
This is not the smoothest part of baking.  Princesses need lots of attention and assistance when helping with the main event!  Be prepared for many, many, many, many interruptions!  This time consuming process is well worth it!  The result is creating a future generation that is not afraid of a pan, bowl, mixer and oven!  A very special family tradition is born here.  I would not change the process for all the peace and quiet in the world.
Mocha Icing with black and orange accents.  The beginning.
Here's a tip.  Really a tip, I strongly recommend the Wilton Cake Icer Tip it will make icing large cakes much more pleasant.

and a Princess to do all the dishes!
What an amazing fun day!

Now you may ask how was the party?  Did you keep it a secret?
The answer to these questions are YES!  Right after I snapped this photo Curt promptly closed the door. He thought he was going to go to the casino for lunch and some black jack.  Little did he know that all the stalling of his wife, Brenda (also my sister) was to lead up to a fun filled old timer biker bash!
